Hi, I Am Aeisha Kelly

I am a native of New Orleans and a proud graduate of St. Mary’s Academy and Southern University, where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Master of Social Work. I am currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Public Policy at Southern University and A&M College (Executive Program) and am a member of the Loyola Institute of Politics.

I am also a proud mother of two amazing daughters, and my experiences as a parent deeply inform my commitment to advocating for strong schools, healthy families, and thriving communities.

I bring hands-on leadership and real-world experience to this race. Most recently, I served as a first-time campaign manager, leading Jason Hughes to a decisive victory in the November 15 runoff election. That experience strengthened my understanding of how policy, community engagement, and effective leadership come together to deliver real results.

My community advocacy is grounded in addressing everyday quality-of-life issues that matter to residents, including illegal dumping, blighted properties, broken streetlights, food deserts, littering, panhandling, and corridor maintenance.

I have worked collaboratively with city agencies and community partners to secure health-care funding and expand services at New Orleans East Hospital, with a particular focus on women’s and children’s health.

I am a proud graduate of the City of New Orleans NOPD Citizens Police Academy, Civic Leadership Academy, and the FBI Citizens Academy, reflecting my commitment to public safety, civic engagement, and accountable government.

WHY AM I RUNNING

I’m running because New Orleans East has felt the impact of state decisions for too long—without receiving the investment we deserve. From education and infrastructure to health care and economic opportunity, District 100 has been overlooked.

A key priority of my campaign is expanding health-care services for women and children at New Orleans East Hospital. More than 80,000 residents call New Orleans East home, yet families—especially women and children—continue to face limited access to comprehensive care. Women will continue to have babies, and our community will continue to raise children—and it is unacceptable that a community of this size faces such deep disparities in women’s and children’s health care and early support.

As a mother of two daughters, I know how essential prenatal care, early education, and family support services are to healthy families and strong communities. I’m running to be a strong, accountable voice for District 100 at the State Capitol—one that ensures our families are supported and our community is treated as a priority, not an afterthought.

MISSION STATEMENT

My mission is to advance legislation rooted in lived experience, sound policy, and a deep love for my community, city, and state. As a lifelong New Orleans East resident, I don’t just study public policy—I live its impact.

Guided by my training as a public policy scholar and my role as a mother and advocate, I center people in every decision. I am committed to carrying District 100’s voice, values, and priorities to the State Capitol and fighting to ensure our community is seen, heard, and truly represented.
